BIOGRAPHY

Bacilos

In the early 2000s, Miami-based Bacilos were one of the most popular Rock en Español bands, scoring hits on the Billboard Latin charts and winning a 2003 Grammy for Best Pop Latin Album for Caraluna.

In the mid-1990s, while attending the University of Miami, Colombian-born singer, songwriter and guitarist Jorge Villamizar had joined forces with classmates André Lopes (bass) and José Javier Freire (percussion). The trio blended rock, funk and pop with Latin rhythms on four original albums before breaking up in 2007, after which Villamizar pursed a solo career.
